Hello, my name is Dennis Mitchell. My wife and I have four wonderful adult children. I began my professional career by enlisting in the U.S. Army (101st Airborne – Air Assault) where I served for 6 years. After returning to civilian life, I attended Wayne State University in my hometown, Detroit Michigan. After obtaining a degree in Education, I began my journey as an educator in South Texas in 1994. To foster professional growth, I obtained a Masters degree in education administration from the University of Texas A&M Kingsville in 1997. I am thankful for the experience I gained as a administrator at various levels including elementary, junior high, and high school. The variety of experience sparked my interest to train teachers and administrators. In the year 2001 I began my own national consulting firm. Here I coached educators and administration personnel on topics of classroom management and leadership. In that time I also served as a motivational and keynote speaker. My professional experiences lead me to write two books, “The Do’s and Don’ts of Discipline for the Classroom Teacher” and, “Discipline in the Home for Parent Sanity”. In 2014 I returned to my work as an administrator in the public school systems.
I am proud to say that I have found myself in Ballinger Texas. Both the school district and the citizens of Ballinger have welcomed me as one of their own. (Even though I am a former Yankee.) Bringing my experience to Ballinger ISD has been a joy for me. I believe in educating all students along with holding them accountable to achieve the very best for themselves as individuals. My motto has always been, If we believe, We can achieve. My goal is to get students to believe in themselves with an understanding, that with hard work and determination; they can achieve whatever they can dream.
